Home of America’s longest rail-trail.

Forty years ago a flooded rail line could have become 237 miles of fences. Instead Missouri built the longest rail-trail in America, mile by mile, town by town. This is the film about how it happened, and the map for riding all of it. It premiered at the Missouri History Museum in September 2026 and is on Nine PBS and pbs.org now.

Keep it going

The trail exists because people paid for it, cleared it, and fought for it. These are the groups still doing that work.
